What does it mean if you are blacklisted? In general terms when you are blacklisted you are ostracised from certain groups and you have certain privileges taken away from you. This translates in the financial world, so if you are financially blacklisted means your credit is frozen, you are unable to get credit of any kind. The National Credit Regulator will have a register of names of people who have been blacklisted having default or adverse judgements against them. At the moment there are about 25 million people blacklisted in South Africa.
To check that you are not blacklisted you can contact the National Credit regulator.
